Find Articles

One way to get articles (scholarly, news, trade, and popular) is by searching a database. Emmaus has a number of databases through two platforms, EBSCOhost and Gale. This page will walk you through how to find articles in both platforms.

EBSCOhost Access

When you connect with EBSCOhost, select the first service listed, EBSCOhost web.

After this, you can select which databases you want to search. The database list includes short descriptions about the type of information in each database.

Gale Access

Click here to access Gale databases.

Once here, you can select a specific database to search depending on your subject, or you can use the Power Search option to search all databases.

If you are searching the databases while off campus, you will need to enter a password. If you do not know what the password is, contact Mr. Rush.

Directory of Open Access Journals

The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is an online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals not available in EBSCOhost.

Click here to search DOAJ for free access to articles on your topic! Searching on DOAJ is very similar to searching on EBSCOhost.

DOAJ journal titles include:
Journal for Cultural and Religious Theory
Journal for the Study of Religions and Ideologies
Journal of Global Buddhism
Journal of Hebrew Scriptures
Journal of Religion and Society
Middle East Review of International Affairs
South Asian Journal
Studies in Jewish-Christian Relations
... and thousands more!
